This is a 6-month on-site contract role based in Auckland for a large, globally known MSP organisation.
Role Responsibilities: - Managed, maintained, and troubleshot Hadoop on-premises environments, with a strong emphasis on administration, security, and performance tuning of big data services and infrastructure - Support Kafka feeds and batch runs - Patching failed jobs or address application outages - Resolve defects and perform performance tuning - Monitor performance and ensure platform stability
Required Experience and Skills: - Hands-on experience in a Hadoop Administration role - Installation Commissioning: Completed base metal installation, including Linux requirements for Hadoop. Experience with commissioning and decommissioning activities - Versions upgrades, Resources, and Queue Management - Architectural Knowledge: Clear understanding of the master/slave architecture of Hadoop services - BDR Replication Framework: In-depth knowledge of the Backup and Disaster Recovery (BDR) replication framework. - Service Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of HDFS, YARN, SPARK, HIVE, and Impala as services. - Security: In-depth knowledge of Kerberos setup and Active Directory (AD) integration. - Database Connectivity: In-depth knowledge of ODBC/JDBC connections to and from Hadoop.
